How to get to Oranienbaum from St. Petersburg

Oranienbaum is translated from German as "orange tree". There is a story that Peter I brought this evergreen citrus plant as a gift to his favorite. The ironic tsar seemed to hint: "I know what kind of fruit you are!" Aleksander Menshikov liked the irony, and even called his estate Oranienbaum. Whether to believe it or not is up to you.

After the Great Patriotic War, the city got a different name - Lomonosov. There is still a state museum-reserve here. You can walk around the park, feed ducks in a Chinese pond and see a 107-year-old oak tree.

Car

Oranienbaum is about 60 kilometers away. It is convenient to drive along the Ring Motorway (exit onto Oranienbaumsky Prospect / Krasnoflotskoye Shosse) or Petergofskoye Shosse. The road will take 60-90 minutes.

Rail transport

Electric trains depart from the Baltiysky Station. The fare is 83 rubles; traffic interval - 20-30 minutes. You will reach the destination within an hour. Be aware! You need to go to the station Oranienbaum-1. The park can be easily reached on foot. Lastochka also goes from St. Petersburg to Oranienbaum; it leaves from the Baltiysky station. The cost is a little more than 95 rubles. The trip takes just 45 minutes.

Bus / minibus

The fare is 55-120 rubles. The transport goes to the museum-reserve from 2 metro stations:

• Avtovo metro station - minibuses №300 and №42A, bus №200;
• Prospekt Veteranov metro station - minibus №343.
